Participations . . . A Closer Look
If you were wondering what some of the Missions listings were all about, here is a closer look. Our prayer is for you to be encouraged to participate in whatever way God leads you. There is always room for one more!
LOTTIE MOON CHRISTMAS
OFFERING FOR
INTERNATIONAL MISSIONS
Southern Baptist churches collect the Lottie Moon Christmas
Offering® for the sole purpose of supporting international
missions. Every penny of the offering goes to the International
Mission Board’s overseas budget, thus supporting our
missionaries and their work.
ANNIE ARMSTRONG EASTER OFFERING FOR NORTH AMERICAN MISSIONS
The Annie Armstrong Easter Offering® is much more than an offering envelope and an annual missions-giving emphasis. When people give to the offering, 100 percent of their gift will be transformed into missionary salaries and ministry supplies. Those missionaries and supplies will help others hear the message of Christ and respond in faith to His offer of salvation. Time and again our missionaries relate how the offering is their lifeblood. They know that behind each penny given, there is a Southern Baptist who believes in what they do and are affirming the need to equip them to share the gospel with those who need a Savior.
ELIZA BROADUS OFFERING
FOR STATE MISSIONS
The Eliza Broadus Offering® is promoted beginning in
September. Each Kentucky Baptist church is encouraged
to participate during the Week of Prayer, which typically
begins the second Sunday of September. Ministry areas
are featured during the Season of Prayer for Kentucky
Missions. They represent sacrificial work taking place in cities,
rural communities, and college campuses where lives are
being transformed with the Gospel.
JULIA WOODWARD
MISSION OFFERING
The Julia Woodward Mission Offering helps fund local mission efforts though the Central Kentucky Network of Baptists. Offerings help fund scholarships and Collegiate Ministries along with other ministries to international and ethnic ministries in our area. In addition it provides food assistance, helps fund a Toy Project as well as provide a shower trailer. In 1981, the WMU named the offering in her honor, the Julia Woodward Mission Offering.
OPERATION CHRISTMAS
CHILD
Operation Christmas Child, a project of Samaritan’s
Purse, is the world’s largest Christmas outreach of
its kind. Since 1993, Operation Christmas Child has
delivered gift-filled shoeboxes to more than 209
million children affected by war, poverty, natural
disasters, and other crises in more than 170
countries and territories. People of all ages can be i
nvolved in this simple, hands-on missions project while focusing on the true meaning of Christmas—Jesus Christ. This year, Operation Christmas Child will celebrate its 30th year of ministry.
